This 2010 release caught me by surprise with how well it was put together. Very polished and extremely catchy, it’s one of those albums that you can listen to from beginning to end and don’t want it to end. Each song is different and makes it a really interesting listening experience, especially for the first listen. The album crosses genre’s with Stylo which features one of my favorite artists of all time Mos Def, to Empire Ants which a synth happy ethereal quality. to Welcome to the World of Plastic Beach, which features Snoop Dog and some soul dub that makes for an interesting collaboration.

Zen
Zen emphasizes the attainment of
enlightenment and the personal expression of direct insight in the Buddhist
teachings. As such, it de-emphasizes mere knowledge of sutras and doctrine and
favors direct understanding through zazen and interaction with an accomplished
teacher. The teachings of Zen include
various sources of Mahāyāna thought, especially Yogācāra, the Tathāgatagarbha
Sutras and Huayan. The Prajñāpāramitā literature and, to a lesser extent,
Madhyamaka have also been influential.
